The Mcintosh 47 was the brainchild of a Cathay Pacific pilot back in the 80’s Being a keen sailor he wanted to design a true-blue water cruising boat. He subsequently appointed Tim Kings a naval architect from America. They formed a partnership and Tim Kings moved to Taiwan to oversee the builds from beginning to the end at the world-renowned Ocean Alexander shipyard in Taiwan.
The Mercedes engine was completely overhauled in 2003.
